With warmer weather on the way, lake season is right around the corner—if you’ve missed any time on the water at all. This past month brought the Mid-Atlantic Boat Show to Charlotte, and if it revealed anything, it’s that boat inventory is extremely low this year. Even for those considering used boats, this buying season might prove challenging.
You may have noticed that Race City Marine was absent from this year's boat show. That’s because they chose to host a private show at their brand-new dealership location on Hwy 150 in Mooresville—and it was a fantastic success. Attendees had the unique opportunity to speak directly with the Chris-Craft representative. That’s right: Race City Marine is now an official Chris-Craft dealer, and they have some real showstoppers in their new showroom.
Race City Marine isn’t just a top-tier destination for buying or servicing a boat—they’re also deeply committed to giving back. This year, they made an incredible contribution in support of our Light Up The Night 5K, which raises funds and awareness to combat human sex trafficking.

Light Up the Night 5K
Light Up the Night 5K is a glow-in-the-dark walk/run event that partners with local nonprofits to raise awareness and funds in the fight against human sex trafficking. Gather your friends and join us as we walk and run for freedom.
This year’s event will include food and beverage vendors and lots of glow foam fun!

You Had Me at Chocolate Donut…
Milkbread Café – Davidson, NC
After a few missed attempts, I finally had the chance to visit Milkbread, the newest café in Davidson—and it was worth the wait. Admittedly, the thought of driving down for another restaurant gave me pause (Milkbread, please come to Mooresville!), but the convenient location right off I-77 erased that concern quickly.
The space is bright and welcoming, and even the outdoor seating was enjoyable despite being roadside. Our mission this time? Coffee and donuts—and they did not disappoint.
If you’ve ever enjoyed Kindred Bread (same owners!), you’ll recognize that soft, pillowy dough. They keep it simple with two donut flavors: chocolate and original glaze. I’m firmly on Team Chocolate, but the original glaze—with a hint of cinnamon—might be perfect for you.
The oat milk latte? A flawless pairing.
We also sampled the avocado toast, which wasn’t a favorite for us (too heavy on toppings), but everything tasted incredibly fresh. Next time, I’m eyeing the chicken sandwich that’s been getting rave reviews.

Davidson Nature Preserve
This hidden gem sits just behind Davidson Day School and offers a peaceful nature trail perfect for kids to run off energy, a relaxing solo stroll, or a scenic spot to walk off those Milkbread calories.
This quick, flat trail loops around Lake Davidson, offering plenty of shade and a beautiful view. Many of the trees and plants are labeled, making it a lovely educational walk as well. The full loop is around 0.56 miles, and at about the 900-foot mark, there’s a kayak launch point for easy lake access.
